Theme: Hedge Funds and other Liquid Alternatives

2022 was a challenging year for many asset classes. Alternatives was maybe the one place to hide. The more liquid part of the Alternatives universe is not as often in focus – at least in Denmark – but delivered as a return and risk diversifier. The liquid alternatives/Hedge Fund universe is extremely heterogenous so return dispersion was naturally enormous. Hedge Funds and Liquid Alternatives has received criticism for being “Beta in disguise” but is this fair and was 2022 the year of proof-of-concept and a revival of the asset class?

At this network meeting we will shine light on what kind of strategies can be classified as liquid alternatives or Hedge Funds. What is their role in the overall investment portfolio? We will discuss why some institutional investors has chosen not to allocate to liquid alternatives and why others have a meaningful allocation.

We have invited Donald A. Steinbrugge, CFA, Founder and CEO, Agecroft Partners, Mamdouh Medhat, Senior Researcher & Vice President, Dimensional Fund Advisors and Andrew Beer, Managing Member, Dynamic Beta investments LLC to put the spotlight on the theme from various angles and viewpoints.

Only the following network debate will be held in Danish.
