MiFID II – Investment Research and Commision Unbundling

Due to new regulation, the investment research market is undergoing a fundamental transformation. What are the consequences of MiFID II for the Research Industry? Which payment models will be used for commission unbundling in the Nordic countries and abroad?

We have invited Neil Scarth, Frost Consulting, London, to give a perspective of new approaches to valuing research and implications for the relationship between asset owners, asset managers and research providers. Thomas Steen Hansen, Danske Bank, and Morten Bo Prince, Nordea Asset Management, will present the sell and buy side approach respectively. Jens Houe Thomsen, Jyske Bank, will moderate the discussion.

Neil Scarth is a principal of Frost Consulting which works with asset managers on research valuation issues.  His 30 year career has spanned investment banking, multiple facets of asset management and regulatory consulting.  He is a frequent contributor to industry discussions (IMA, Institutional Investor, CFA Institute).  Neil has an MA in Applied Economics from the University of Southern California, and a BA from Carleton University.

Thomas Steen Hansen has worked within investment banking for more than 20 years with main focus on Equity Research.
