The European Banking Sector Ten Years after Lehman

Michael will provide an overview of the key developments in the last 10 years (regulatory topics and the performance of banks) and where the European banking sector stands compared to US banks. He will then provide an outlook of the European banking sector. In addition, he can provide insights into the Italian banking sector and summarize the key developments there.

The Scandinavian Banking Sector – Boy Scouts are always prepared

Christian will focus on the largest Scandinavian banks and give his opinion about the banks’ current financial resilience ahead of the next crisis. He will talk about the main differences to the banks in the pre-Lehman world and the political and regulatory reality facing the Nordic banks today.

Michael Teig, Credit Analyst Financials, UniCredit Credit Research

Michael Teig has worked as a financial-credit analyst at UniCredit since April 2016. Michael has more than ten years of experience working in research and financial analysis. He spent four years working as a rating analyst at S&P in Frankfurt, where his work was focused on the ratings of sub-sovereign agencies and financial institutions in Europe. Later, he joined Deutsche Pfandbriefbank as a senior credit officer focused on the public sector, banks and PPP/infrastructure risks for existing and new business. At UniCredit, his work is focused on European banks. His regular publications include the monthly Financials and Bank Capital Chartbook and the monthly Bank and Insurance Watch. In addition, he publishes in-depth analyses on single banks and specific regulatory and sector topics. Michael studied finance and economics at Bamberg University in Germany and at Oklahoma State University in the US. He holds a PhD in economics from Bamberg University.

Christian Hede, Investment Manager, Lind Invest

Christian started his career working for Danmarks Nationalbank as well as The European Central Bank before becoming an equity sell side analyst in August 2007. After nine years on the sell side focusing on Nordic banks and insurance companies he joined the single family office, Lind Invest in 2016. At Lind Invest Christian heads a team investing in Nordic financials be it equity or debt, listed or unlisted. Christian holds an MSc in Economics from Aarhus University and an MSc in Public Economics from University of York.
